Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Injections

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) injections are a regenerative treatment that uses a concentration of the patient’s own platelets to promote healing of injured tendons, ligaments, muscles, and joints. The procedure involves drawing a small amount of blood, processing it to isolate platelets, and injecting the PRP into the targeted area.

PRP can be performed for select musculoskeletal conditions where healing is slow or incomplete. Indications include tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow, patellar tendinopathy, plantar fasciitis, mild to moderate osteoarthritis (particularly of the knee), and some ligament or tendon injuries.

PRP is typically done in-office under ultrasound guidance for precise placement. Patients may notice improvement over several weeks as the body responds to the growth factors. It is often considered when conservative therapies have failed and before more invasive options are pursued.
