Cubital tunnel syndrome is the second most common compression neuropathy of the upper extremity, caused by pressure on the ulnar nerve at the elbow. Symptoms include numbness and tingling in the ring and little fingers, hand weakness, and discomfort along the inner forearm or elbow.
Conservative management includes activity modification, nighttime elbow splinting, and anti-inflammatory medications. Surgery is considered for patients with persistent symptoms, weakness, or nerve damage despite non-surgical treatment.
Cubital tunnel release is a procedure performed to relieve pressure on the ulnar nerve. It can be done on an outpatient basis, often under local or regional anesthesia. Most patients experience gradual improvement in symptoms, with return to routine activities in a few weeks.
